Seven and the Ragged Tiger is the third studio album by the English pop rock band Duran Duran, released in November 1983. It was the band's first and only
number one album in the UK, and would prove to be the last studio album for the band's original line-up until 2004's Astronaut.
Vocalist Simon Le Bon said the album "is an adventure story about a little commando team. 'The Seven' is for us — the five band members and the two managers —
and 'the Ragged Tiger' is success. Seven people running after success. It's ambition. That's what it's about."

2023-10-18 | Big Thing (35th Anniversary)
Big Thing is the fifth studio album by Duran Duran, released worldwide in October 18, 1988. In 1988, the musical climate was changing, veering to a more dance-based groove. Duran Duran were known primarily as an early '80s new
wave synth-pop act, and the band was sitting at a career crossroads. Dance music and stylistic respellings aside, Big Thing was an album of contrasts. While the general feel was a response to the burgeoning house
music and rave scene, a number of tracks on the album harkened back to the band's more lush arrangements.

2023-10-02 | Cancer charity concert
The Duran Duran guitarist was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer five years ago, and has bravely fought it behind the scenes, later bringing it to the attention of the public.
Taylor's intention has been to highlight the dangers of prostate cancer, and raise awareness the longer his battle continues.
He and his Duran Duran bandmates have even buried the hatchet in terms of their tumultuous working relationship, with Andy rejoining the new romantic superstars in March 2023 to record their new album.
Now, in his campaign to raise awareness for the disease as his battle continues, Andy Taylor has announced a charity concert. The concert will see Taylor joined by friends and superstars to raise money and awareness for
cancer charity, Cancer Awareness Trust. Some of the names confirmed to join Taylor on stage - for an audience made up of philanthropists, fellow musicians and two lucky fans - are Wham!'s Andrew Ridgeley and Led Zeppelin's Robert
Plant. ABC's David Palmer, Ella Henderson, and current Bon Jovi guitar-slinger Phil X have also been revealed to perform. Comedian Katherine Ryan will also do a stand-up set at the event which will also involve an
auction, selling artworks by Banksy and Picasso.
The concert is set to take place at Soho Farmhouse in the Cotswolds on 21st October 2023.
All proceeds raised from the event will be donated to Cancer Awareness Trust, which are aiming to develop a new platform to help spread information for those suffering from the disease. After his initial diagnosis, Andy Taylor
admitted to being frustrated and confused, but praised Professor Sir Chris Evans - the co-founder of Cancer Awareness Trust - for helping him through his "life-changing" treatment.
"Before Sir Chris and his team reached out, I felt lost and frustrated by my diagnosis," Taylor said in a press statement ahead of the concert's announcement. "I was unclear on my options and what I should do. The kindness,
knowledge and support Sir Chris and his team have given in abundance has literally given me and the family my life back."
"Prostate cancer is one of the biggest killers of men despite there now existing multiple ways to get tested, easily, and then treated appropriately," Andy continued. "People need to be able to find this information fast and easily.
It exists, it's just difficult to find."
"There also needs to be a revolution in men's healthcare about prostate cancer, a breaking down of the stigmas associated with getting tested."
"The Cancer Awareness Trust’s vision for a Cancer Platform is what we need and why I’m an ambassador," Taylor added.
Meanwhile, Sir Chris provided some more information about the scheduled fundraising event, saying: "This event is a celebration of an incredible musician, collaborator, friend, and Ambassador – the iconic Andy Taylor."
"So many amazing people have come together to put this show together with Andy, and I can’t wait to celebrate with them all on the night."
"But more importantly, I’m looking forward to putting the funds raised to the crucial and urgent work of transforming cancer outcomes," Evans concluded.

2023-09-14 | New official music video
Official music video for Duran Duran’s “Danse Macabre” is out today.
Lyrics:
Halloween girl seize the fray
Bruvz & sistaz lead the way
Shackled to the rhythm your soul is weighed
So y'better get down on y'knees & pray
Coming up for The Hawkser Mad-Bull
Jumping on the hot seat, lying in the dead pool
Delivery quake, expensive mistake
The damage, the damage, the damage, the damage
Hey, no way, some ghost jive in a AC Cobra
Auto da Fé, get dirty up on a DANSE MACABRE
Hey, no way, I had you down for the cat's pyjamas
Auto da Fé, get dirty up on the DANSE MACABRE
If y'don't mind, if y'don't mind (x3)
If y'don't mind dipping down the goldmine
Zombie in the back room, nuns in the bed
Kids in KISS makeup toasting the bread
An Elvis moans a lone Natty Dread
With Death in the living room, offering a head
Are you watching, are you watching?
Collars & chains & cuffs are matching
Kami-kaze stag-do twist & shout
At Sudan Archives on a girls night out
Hey, no way, some ghost jive in a AC Cobra
Auto da Fé, get dirty up on a DANSE MACABRE
Hey, no way, I had you down for the cat's pyjamas
Auto da Fé, get dirty up on the DANSE MACABRE
For heaven's sake don't blow your karma
Liberate your DANSE MACABRE

2023-08-12 | Andy Taylor says cancer drug has given him five more years
Duran Duran's original guitarist Andy Taylor has said an innovative drug treating his advanced prostate cancer has extended his life "for five years".
Taylor was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer eight years ago, but only revealed his condition in 2022. After going public, a scientist got in touch to offer him "a nuclear medicine, Lutetium-177, which is targeted
so it only sees cancer cells", he said.
He told BBC Breakfast he had his first round of the drug six weeks ago.
"It can't see healthy cells," the 62-year-old said. "It kills stage four cancer in your bones. And so what it's effectively done is extend my life for five years." He said his health had been deteriorating before that,
and he had been on what he called "the blacklist".
The musician revealed the diagnosis last November in a letter read by his former bandmates as they were inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in Los Angeles. Formed in Birmingham, Duran Duran shot to fame in the 1980s
and are known for hits like Rio, Girls On Film, Hungry Like The Wolf and Ordinary World. The event in LA was meant to be as a reunion for the band, whose classic line-up has not played together since 2006.
Taylor said he was "massively disappointed" at the time to miss the show because he was too ill. "A few days before, I couldn't really stand up and play," he said. "I missed the biggest night of my life," he told Breakfast,
adding that until that moment, "no-one really knew [about his diagnosis] - just family and a few friends". He did not even tell the rest of the band until shortly before the Hall of Fame ceremony. He sent them a letter, which
singer Simon Le Bon suggested reading out on stage. "He did it was real dignity. He's a very classy fella, I love him dearly," Taylor said.
Afterwards, Taylor was suggested the new treatment by Prof Sir Chris Evans, founder of The Cancer Awareness Trust (CAT). Prof Evans told the BBC: "When patients like Andy Taylor have unfortunately progressed to stage four
prostate cancer with secondary metastases, particularly in the bone tissue, then treatment options are limited. He'd already received some of the best medicines available and was in serious decline. "We took a deep dive
into his genetic profile and the specific genomic mutations present in his cancer. We also computed a number of other very specific biochemical and physiological pieces of Andy's jigsaw. "Based on everything we understood, the
nuclear medicine Lutetium 177 injections were considered the best option for him."
'Beacon of hope'
Prof Evans added that Taylor had "done marvellously" on his first round of the treatment. "We are optimistic he will do well on future rounds and this may result in quite a substantial life extension for Andy to
continue being very creative and active making and performing live music." The guitarist explained that he had to get in "very, very good health" before he could have the treatment. "So I really took care of myself in a
different way," he said. "And then after the first round of treatment I said, 'If I'm OK, and you guys [his doctors] say I'm OK and do your blood tests, is it OK to start work again - light work - and get out?' "I don't want
to be a patient stuck here. I want to be a working patient, a little beacon of hope, because this stuff - cancer - just drags you and your family down in the darkness," he said.
Taylor felt well enough to create a new album, called Man's A Wolf To Man, which is out in September, adding: "It's been a hell of a journey."

2023-07-19 | Andy Taylor announces new album
Duran Duran’s Andy Taylor has announced the forthcoming release of Man’s A Wolf To Man, the guitarist’s first solo LP in over 30 years. It’s available from 8 September and can be
pre-ordered now.
The LP was delayed by the pandemic, which gave Andy time to re-tool the album. It was during this process that he was given the news that the prostate cancer he had been battling was now terminal. This diagnosis meant
that he could not attend his induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame as a member of Duran Duran.
“When I started writing this album, it was the beginning of the chaos – 2016, 2017,” Andy says. “Man’s A Wolf To Man is pretty apt now. Having lived there, had kids there, had an amazing career there, I know America very
well. And when you watch the breakdown, and the extremes of it, how quickly people became vicious enemies.
“Well, Man’s A Wolf To Man is about how man is his own worst enemy and will behave like a pack of wolves towards his other human enemy. What we saw bubbling when I started writing, it was all about getting even – why do you get so
mad trying to get even? Why do people get angry? Why don’t they just do better themselves? I was getting back to making records that are human, about something that mattered or matters, that are in the moment.”
2023 finds Andy Taylor on top of the world, with a solo album that he is justifiably proud of and is currently undergoing targeted therapy.
He currently appears on three songs on Tina Arena’s new Australian No.1 album Love Saves and just last week his former band members in Duran Duran announced they will play a special benefit concert in California on August
19th to raise money for Andy’s cutting-edge cancer treatment.

2023-05-10 | The Road to Medazzaland
From Carsten Windhorst:
We are ready to launch the first part of The Road to Medazzaland.
Some of you may be aware that we have been working on a rather ambitious documentary project. It all started back in February 2022 with the idea to make a documentary on Medazzaland to coincide with the 25th anniversary
of the album.
However, before we knew it the whole thing had snowballed into something much, much bigger and I personally felt that all the non Medazzaland footage we had shot was too good to be left on the cutting room floor. Let’s
face it, interviewing Nile Rodgers is a dream come true for anyone (let alone a Duran fan) but what can he really say about Medazzaland…
By September 2022 we were sure we had got everything we needed to start putting the documentary together but (luckily) our ambition threw a spanner in the works and we decided to try and interview even
more people.
By the time we filmed Erol Alkan in his studio we were sure we had now definitely interviewed everyone on our immediate wish list but then we started throwing even more names around and just over a week
ago we sat down with Mr Hudson…
Anyway to cut a long story short, The Road to Medazzaland consists of two parts. Part 1 covers the period from 1980-1989, while part two will focus on 1990-1995.
As for the actual Medazzaland documentary - we are still working on it and we’ll keep you posted on our progress (I told you we were ambitious). For now I hope you’ll enjoy the first part of The Road to Medazzaland. Part
two will follow soon.
We wrote, produced, filmed and edited the entire documentary ourselves. It’s been an extremely time consuming project and we hope you’ll enjoy it. The premiere is set for 8am UK time (9 May) which is midnight
on the west coast.

2023-03-21 | Duran Duran to record a new album with Andy Taylor
Duran Duran have announced “a special new music project”, set for release later this year, which will feature “extended Duran Duran family and friends, old and new”, most notably the band’s former guitarist Andy Taylor who is terminally ill with stage 4 prostate cancer.
There’s clearly a sense of urgency around what would be an emotional reunion and Simon Le Bon is set to fly out to Andy’s home in Ibizia to record with his former bandmate.
While the band didn’t use the word ‘album’ in the post on their socials yesterday, John Taylor recently told The Mirror that “We’re working on an album right now that is going to be coming out at the end of the year and [Andy Taylor] is playing guitar. There’s a lot of cover songs on the album, songs meaningful to us when we were kids. So having him be a part of that project is great.”
There were rumours that Duran Duran planned to ‘finish’ Reportage with Andy in the near future, before the guitarist went public with his cancer diagnosis at the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame last November. It’s conceivable that some of that material could end up as part of this new record, but that remains to be seen.
If this new album is indeed released in 2023 (not a given, going by previous proclamations), at worst it will be only 26 months since Future Past and would therefore be Duran Duran’s quickest follow up to a studio album since 1988’s Big Thing was issued less than two years after Notorious.

2023-01-13 | Andy Taylor talks cancer battle
Taylor returns to his health battles for a new interview for U.K. TV, and explains how music and creativity has lifted his spirits.
The diagnosis came when Andy was 56 years old, and presented when he went jogging and felt what he describes as “arthritic sort of pain.” He began to “have these symptoms, and didn’t recognize them for what they could be.”
Lumps would appear on his neck, a troubling sign that the cancer had metastasized. The biopsy results confirmed the worst, an illness he describes as “a death sentence.”
On hearing the extent of his illness, “no one can be prepared for that.”
Due to his poor health, Taylor missed the ceremony in Los Angeles, for which he’d planned to break out a new guitar.
Now that the word is out, Taylor, 61, uses his platform to tell others to get checked, and urges female fans to apply gentle pressure on the men in their lives. “Give him a nudge, go get a test,” he tells 5 News.
In a fight with cancer, time is precious. “Every minute is like an hour, every day is like a week,” he explains. “You really want to get the most out of life. And I’ve been very fortunate.
I’ve had so much in terms of living the dream.” (Info: billboard.com)
2023-01-07 | Kelly Clarkson and Ordinary World
Kelly Clarkson opened the Friday (Jan. 6) episode of her talk show with a cover of Duran Duran‘s “Ordinary World.”
Wearing a simple black dress and matching tights, the host extraordinaire sang, “Came in from a rainy Thursday on the avenue/ Thought I heard you talking softly/ I turned on the lights, the TV, and the radio/ Still I can’t
escape the ghost of you/ What has happened to it all?/ Crazy, some’d say/ Where is the life that I recognize?/ Gone away” before launching into the track’s high-flying chorus.
Originally released as the lead single from 1993’s Duran Duran (The Wedding Album), the soft rock ballad shot to No. 1 on the Pop Airplay chart and also landed at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the
band’s biggest hit since their 1985 James Bond theme “A View to a Kill.”
Coincidentally, fellow American Idol alum Adam Lambert also recently unveiled his rendition of “Ordinary World,” from his upcoming album of covers, High Drama, set for release this February.
