Adam Lambert, Andra Day, and Duran Duran have been added to the lineup for the upcoming virtual David Bowie tribute, Just for One Day, which will
air on Bowie’s birthday, January 8th, 2021.
Other additions to the lineup include Yungblud, Michael C. Hall, Mott the Hoople’s Ian Hunter, Anna Calvi, Atticus Ross, Kid Heaven Orchestra
singer Etty Lau Farrell, and How to Destroy Angels singer Mariqueen Maandig Reznor. The previously announced lineup boasts Trent Reznor, Billy
Corgan, Perry Farrell, Lizzy Hale, and Macy Gray.
Just for One Day was organized by Bowie’s long-time pianist, Mike Garson, and the livestream will be anchored by an all-star band of musicians
who played with Bowie over the course of his career. Three more alums have been added to the lineup: Peter Frampton, a childhood friend of Bowie’s,
who played on Never Let Me Down and the subsequent Glass Spider Tour; Young Americans saxophonist David Sanborn; and Yes keyboardist Rick Wakeman,
who played on Space Oddity, Hunky Dory, and Ziggy Stardust.
Tickets for the Just for One Day livestream are on sale now, and $2 from every ticket will be donated to Save the Children, an organization Bowie
supported with funds raised from his famed 1997 50th birthday concert at Madison Square Garden. The show will start on January 8th at 6 p.m.

A new Nick Rhodes (Duran Duran) art book, called Bei Incubi, is being published by The Vinyl Factory.
The 120-page art book features spot UV gloss details, silk-screened endpapers, gilt and colour-edging to book block.
All elements are housed in a hand-stamped Keaykolour deep black slipcase, with a magnetic closure which has then been hand-wrapped in a silver decorative and protective maltese cross wrap, presented and protected in a bespoke black mailer.
Limited to 300 worldwide, it features art direction and design by Modern Construct, with production by Adam Teskey.

Reef, the Somerset blues-rock outfit who achieved their greatest success in the mid-Nineties, have been one of the first bands to announce concerts in a format appropriate to the COVID era. In August and September,
they will be criss-crossing the country with a series of twelve drive-in concerts at venues such as the Lincolnshire Showground and Newmarket Racecourse (details here). To add oomph to the package, they will be joined
onstage by their pal Andy Taylor, once of Duran Duran, so who knows what songs may turn up. A valiant attempt at flying the flag for live rock’n’roll, it’ll also be a test-case to see whether an atmosphere can be generated

Today in music history: 1985, Duran Duran became the first artists to have a No.1 on the US singles chart with a James Bond theme when ‘A View To A Kill’, went to the top of the charts.
2020-07-13 | 35th Anniversary of LIVE AID
Duran Duran performing at Live Aid in front of 100,000 people in the John F. Kennedy Stadium, Philadelphia USA on the 13th July, 1985. The event was organised by Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for
the Ethiopian famine disaster. Broadcast across the world via one of the largest satellite link-ups of all time, the concerts were seen by around 40% of the global population.
Duran Duran’s four-song set marked the final time the five original band members would publicly perform together until 2003. Their set saw a weak, off-key falsetto note hit by frontman Simon Le Bon during “A View to a Kill”.
The error was trumpeted by numerous media outlets as “The Bum Note Heard Round the World”, in contrast to Freddie Mercury’s triumphant effort at Wembley. Le Bon later recalled that it was the most embarrassing moment of
his career.

The Isle of Wight Festival has unveiled the lineup for 2021, with Lionel Richie and Lewis Capaldi among the artists still set to perform and new additions including Carly Rae Jepsen and Mavis Staples added to the bill.
Saturday night will see Snow Patrol and Pete Tong and the Heritage Orchestra presents Ibiza Classics co-headline, with Duran Duran due to close the festival on the Sunday.

From John Taylor: DEAR FRIENDS OF MINE after giving some thought to this, I have decided to share with you that I tested positive with the Corona Virus almost three weeks ago.
Perhaps I am a particularly robust 59 year old - I like to think I am - or was blessed with getting only a mild case of Covid 19 - but after a week or so of what I would describe as a 'Turbo-charged Flu', I came out of it
feeling okay- although I must admit I didn't mind the quarantine as it gave me the chance to really recover.
I am speaking out in answer to the enormous amount of fear being generated by the pandemic, some of it entirely justified, and my heart goes out to everyone who has had to deal with real loss and pain. But I want to let you
know that it isn't always a killer, and we can and will beat this thing.
Sending LOVE to all my Homies and Fans, in Italy particularly, the UK and the US and everywhere in the world I have been lucky enough to visit on my travels with DURAN DURAN.

“Good songs. That was what it was about,” keyboardist Nick Rhodes says at the beginning of the 2018 documentary Duran Duran: There’s Something You Should Know. Given the staying power of the group’s biggest hits, it’s hard to
argue with him. Produced by the BBC and currently streaming on Showtime, the film runs through the band’s career highlights in a scant 58 minutes, though I’m not sure lengthening its running time would make a difference
either way.
“What did I want to be when I grew up? I wanted to be adored,” perpetually handsome lead singer Simon LeBon tells us at the outset. He’s racing around some English city – Birmingham, I think – in a vintage sports car, an age-appropriate
echo of the globe trotting jet setters the band made themselves out to be. If you hated Duran Duran as a kid because they were good looking guys who got all the girls, I’ve got bad news for you; they’re still pretty good looking guys
now that they’re pushing 60. Likable and talented, too. Maybe their image wasn’t so much construction as projection, a manifestation of the men they would become. Chalk it up to the power of positive thinking or just hard work plus
