2014-11-14 | New album in 2015?
Notes version on the Kafe: DD14 - “almost there.” Very, very close. They write 3-4 albums worth for 1 album. Mixing now with Spike that did AYNIN. Gone up
another level with him. All but 2-3 tracks not done by 3rd week of Dec. One working on lyrics, one not done yet.
Nile came on early in the process and things that they thought were right were changed. Nile is guitarist on 3 songs, 2 definitely on album. Old school
meets new school between Nile and Mark and Ben.
Mr. Hudson has brought more than anything to the album than anyone else. Very open-minded. Very diverse. One sounds like 70s California driving music with
modern take, another reminds him of the early Talking Heads brought into today, one is hip hop based in track but melody is much more classical;
really different.
Josh is the constant on the album and has contributed out. No album title yet, not even a working title. “Sunset Garage” is a new song they did with Ben.
2015 - single out, album out, some shows, looking for different ways to approach the project. All of that will unravel over the upcoming months. No decision about
who is going to put this out. Not everything comes out like you want. Like he wanted “Girl Panic!” video to come out at the same time of the song release.

In 1984, Bob Geldof and Midge Ure created the super-group project Band Aid to help Ethiopian poverty, releasing the charity single “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”
The song would reach No. 1 on the charts, including the prestigious UK Christmas Number One, and featured the likes of U2‘s Bono, George Michael, Phil Collins,
Paul McCartney, Duran Duran and many others.
Since, the project has been revived for Band Aid 2 in 1989 and Band Aid 20 in 2004, and now will return for Band Aid 30 in 2014.
Band Aid 30 has booked Adele, One Direction, Bono, Chris Martin, Ellie Goulding, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Elbow, Bastille, and more for a new charity single,
delivering an updated version of “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” with altered lyrics to address the current Ebola crisis in West Africa.

Duran Duran has just played a short set live at the St Petersburg's 'White Nights' International Festival in Russia. It was a short set but the band sounded great
and in perfect shape. An event like this is a great teaser for the the fans who miss the band in concert, but in 2015 the band will be again on tour with
a new album, it's just a matter of months! The band promises to come back soon to play a full concert in Russia in 2015.

Dozens of musicians have covered Duran Duran songs over the years, but it's safe to say few have chosen to interpret Read My Lips, a track off the band's oft-overlooked
1990 record, Liberty.
Seattle duo Fly Moon Royalty has a good story behind their cover, though. Made up of sultry singer Adra Boo and DJ/producer Action J, here's how it came about,
according to Action J:
Our friend Jenny George is a leukemia survivor who throws a fundraiser/birthday party every year around Valentine's Day called "Dancing on the Valentine." All
the proceeds go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. She picks one popular (older) artist, and all of her band friends get together and play covers of the artist's
discography.
In 2012 it was Duran Duran. Since we are a more production-based band, doing a cover usually means rewriting the track completely. In fear of just making a bad karaoke
version of the song, I decided to flip it entirely. I turned it into a song we would likely write. The lyrics have a whole new meaning when you hear Adra sing them.
It's much more sensual.

Hand crafted by The Vinyl Factory as a limited edition of only 2000 copies worldwide, with a diamond dust screen-printed gatefold sleeve housing two 180-gram records, ‘A Diamond In The Mind’
will be released on vinyl on 25 May, 2014.
Speaking from the studio in London, where the band are working on their new album, founding member and keyboardist, Nick Rhodes said “I still find it thrilling when we release a record on vinyl,
even more so when I know that every detail is precisely as it should be. The live show we captured in Manchester, definitely sounds at its best in this format, and is the closest you can get
to being at the actual concert.
Since the title is ‘A Diamond in the Mind’, when it came time for the packaging design, it occurred to me that we should use some real diamond dust on our cover artwork. I really wasn’t sure I would get away with my request, but working with the incomparable Vinyl Factory to produce this special edition, they rose to the challenge, called their local diamond dealer and voila! Simon Le Bon and Dom Brown performed in London at “A Night for Nick,” benefit on February 27th, honouring the late Nick Milligan and his 8 year old daughter Emily who died last summer in
a tragic boating accident. Nick was a good friend of Simon and Yasmin Le Bon.
Monies raised from this event will go straight to the Cornish Air Ambulance who helped to save Nick’s wife Victoria’s life, as well as their 3 other children who were also involved in this
horrific accident.

This week in London, Duran Duran recorded with the Voce Chamber Choir and the London Youth Chamber Choir, led by their Musical Director Suzi Digby OBE. The two
choirs came together on Monday evening with members of the band to record vocals on several new songs on Duran Duran’s upcoming studio album. The session
took place at St. Gabriel’s Church in Pimlico. Voce Chamber Choirs, who most recently worked with The Rolling Stones, and London Youth Chamber Choir,
who performed at the National Portrait Gallery on February 8th, had a great time recording with the band. Their vocals were exactly the touch
Duran Duran were looking for.

Duran Duran announced on Feb. 1 on the band's official website that John Taylor will appear at the London Bass Guitar Show at the London Olympia on March 2. The bassist
plans to hit the show's main stage at 3 p.m. to talk about his autobiography, “In The Pleasure Groove: Love, Death and Duran Duran.” In addition, Taylor will be
"playing his signature Peavey bass and regaling us with tales from his unique career," according to duranduran.com. More information and tickets can be

“Hi Cami, No one seems to remember who took the John photo, unfortunately. You are absolutely right about my photo being taken by Virginia Liberatore. In the end, we simply gave the designer, Stephen Sprouse a large selection of photos and he chose the photographs he wanted to use for the cover artwork. They are all from different places, but somehow his vivid styling glued everything together. Definitely one of my personal favorites of our album covers. Nick”
